Making Your Kid's Rooms Fun

About Me

Making Your Kid's Rooms Fun

When I bought my first place, I thought that it would be nice to create high-end, neutral kid's rooms. I figured that I could blend the decor with the design of the rest of the house, which might make more sense. Unfortunately, when it was all said and done, my kid's rooms were boring. Instead of bright colors and interesting themes, each room looked like an extension of my beige living room. However, after finding the right accessories, I was able to transform each space to make it much more fun. Check out this blog for tips on how to make your kid's rooms incredible.

3 Ways To Make A Small Condo Look Larger

If you live in a high-rise condominium complex, then you probably enjoy many amenities such as 24-hour security, a gym or health club on the premises, dry cleaning services, and lovely views. While these things are important, your living space is as well.

Many condominiums in high-rise buildings are small and cramped, but there are things you can do to make your unit look bigger and more spacious. When you hire a high-rise condo interior designer, he or she can offer tips and suggestions on strategies you can employ to help make your condo look larger and feel more comfortable. Here are three things your interior designer may suggest to help make your small condominium appear more open:

Choose The Right Fabrics

Fabric choice can have a significant effect on how open and airy your condo looks. For example, heavy sofa fabrics such as velvet and brocade can look bulky, lending a cramped appearance to your living space. Conversely, lighter weight fabrics such as silky textures, smooth polyesters, and natural cottons will make your space look less cluttered and more spacious.

If you already have furniture and prefer not to invest in new items, talk to your interior designer about re-covering the furniture you already have with a new fabric, as it may be a more cost-effective alternative.

Consider Mirrors

When many people think of mirrors, they sometimes think of a decorating style that was popular decades ago. While completely mirroring an entire wall can look overdone and even gaudy, strategically placing tasteful, stylish mirrors throughout your condo can really make a big difference on how large your unit is perceived to be.

Mirrors mimic the illusion of additional space and are relatively inexpensive. You can purchase new mirrors at your local home improvement store, or you can save even more money by purchasing them at consignment shops, yard sales, and secondhand stores.

Choose Paint Color Wisely

The color that you choose to paint your walls can have a significant impact on how open your condominium looks. While warm colors such as browns, dark reds, deep oranges, and earth tones in general can make your condo look cozy and homey, they make rooms look small and closed in.

Instead of painting your walls with these colors, consider using pale yellows, light beige, or even stark white. While white does not lend a lot of character to your room ambiance, it may be the best tone for your walls because white has the greatest impact on the perception of larger room size.
