Making Your Kid's Rooms Fun

About Me

Making Your Kid's Rooms Fun

When I bought my first place, I thought that it would be nice to create high-end, neutral kid's rooms. I figured that I could blend the decor with the design of the rest of the house, which might make more sense. Unfortunately, when it was all said and done, my kid's rooms were boring. Instead of bright colors and interesting themes, each room looked like an extension of my beige living room. However, after finding the right accessories, I was able to transform each space to make it much more fun. Check out this blog for tips on how to make your kid's rooms incredible.

Are You Designing An Elegant Living And Dining Room Area?

Have you recently moved into a new home? Perhaps you are simply redecorating the living room and dining room area of your present house. Either way, if you want to establish an elegant mood, from doing research to hiring an interior designer, here are some ideas that might help you to design an elegant living room and dining area that you and your guests can enjoy.

Do Some Decorating Research -

Will you be creating your own design, or will you be hiring an interior decorator to design your living and dining room area? Either way, think of starting a file of things that you want to include in the design. Comb through home decorating magazines and do research at your library. Cut out pictures from the magazines of things that you would like to incorporate into your new living area. Since you don't want to cut up library books, either write down the ideas in them that you have admired, or take pictures that can later be printed.

  • Buy an accordion file.
  • Label different sections of the file.
  • For example, write words like Upholstery and Light Fixtures on the dividers.
  • Keep receipts in your accordion file, too.

Work With The Interior Designer -

Don't hesitate to use a designer. Of course, you want your own personality to show in your design, and the interior designer will more than likely make that happen. At your first meeting, go over the accordion file so that the interior designer can get a feel for the things you like. Also, look at interior design project budgeting; be sure to come to an agreement on how much you can spend on things like furniture and decorative pieces.

  • Do some comparison shopping together to get the best deals.
  • Besides looking in actual stores, don't forget to browse the Internet.
  • Look for ways you can save money.
  • For example, doing your own flower arranging might save you money.

As you work with your interior designer, let him or her know the things you love so that they can be incorporated into the design of your living room and dining room. For example, if you love to travel, the designer might help you to find framed paintings of places like Paris or Hong Kong. If you love antiques, the interior designer will more than likely know where to buy the best decorative pieces at a good price. Never hesitate to ask the designer questions, and always be ready to give suggestions.
