Making Your Kid's Rooms Fun

When I bought my first place, I thought that it would be nice to create high-end, neutral kid's rooms. I figured that I could blend the decor with the design of the rest of the house, which might make more sense. Unfortunately, when it was all said and done, my kid's rooms were boring. Instead of bright colors and interesting themes, each room looked like an extension of my beige living room. However, after finding the right accessories, I was able to transform each space to make it much more fun. Check out this blog for tips on how to make your kid's rooms incredible.

Three Ways To Transform Your Custom Closet Into A Luxury Dressing Room

Your custom closet doesn't have to be just a space where you store clothes. With the right decorative touches, you can transform your closet into a luxury private dressing room. Here are a few ideas you can use to elevate the look of your space once your custom closet has been built.

Create A Seating Area

Add a pair of wingback or slipper accent chairs to the center of the closet to give yourself a spot to sit down when picking out your clothes for the day. A coffee table or side table gives you a great place to store magazines for fashion inspiration or to set a cup of coffee down in the morning. Complete the look of your seating area with a plush area rug to give the closet a more luxurious look.

Build A Shoe Shop

If you have a large collection of shoes, it may be difficult to settle on which pair to wear each day. Create a mini shoe shop in your closet so you can try on different pairs with your outfit. To achieve this look, you will need the following:

  • A stylish tufted ottoman or storage bench
  • Shoe floor mirrors (at least two)
  • Two side tables to be placed on either side of the bench
  • A plush area rug

Place the bench in front of your shoe rack or storage area, and put the two accent tables on either side of the bench. You can place the floor mirrors anywhere in the area that is convenient for you. Be sure to place your area rug in front of the bench so you have a soft place to rest your feet as you try on shoes. You may also want to add a decorative box filled with socks and stockings for when you try on different styles of shoes.

Decorate With Dress Forms

Show off your favorite evening gowns or designer outfits by placing them on dress forms throughout the closet. This lets you create a fashion museum feel in your closet while keeping your finest garments free from wrinkles or damage. You can also use the forms to display jewelry or accessories without putting a dress or shirt on them. Look for decorative dress forms made with patterned material, so you can use them as decorative pieces with or without clothes.

There are lots of other ideas you can use for decorating your custom closet, such as hanging chandeliers throughout the space, using dressing screens to create a dressing area and building a desk area for sketching new design ideas. Look for creative ways to turn your closet into a curated collection of clothing and a luxurious space to relax.
